Chapter 7

It was Thursday. Priscilla and I were in class. At least something had gone completely back to normal. And there was the Ball to look forward to – Priscilla and I gossiped about it whenever we could. We passed notes in class sometimes, too. I liked this new Priscilla, testing boundaries, trying different things.

When the lecturer relieved the room to find something for a slider she was missing, Priscilla turned to me.

“What are you going to wear?” She asked.

It wasn’t the first time she’d asked me, but I had no idea. I hadn’t thought about it. There were too many other things going on. I had managed to make up with Theo, but not in a way that was satisfying. I was sure that he wasn’t mad at me, but that didn’t mean that he wasn’t disappointed.

And Dracus still seemed to be worked up over Enrique, unsure if he was the bad guy. Which meant that thinking about dresses to the Ball just wasn’t on my list of priorities.

“I will ask Enrique to help me choose something out,” I said. “He bought most of my wardrobe, anyway.”

“And you’ll be going with him, among others, right?”

“We haven’t talked about it,” I admitted. “Theo was the only one who came to ask. The rest of them have been on their own mission.”

“Well, if you ask him to help you with outfits, you’re not going to tell him that you are going together. It will be an automatic invite.”

“What are you talking about?” I asked.

“Come on, Fiona,” Priscilla said, sounding exasperated. “I know that this whole shifter thing is new to you, that you aren’t used to the concept of having feelings for more than one person now that you are a Calm. But surely, you know how it works with guys, right? I mean, you’re not twelve.”

I rolled my eyes. “Thanks for that.”

“You can’t ask Enrique to help you with outfits and then think he’s going to ignore the whole thing.”

I pulled up my shoulders. I knew Priscilla was right, I just didn’t want to admit it.

“What about you?” I asked. I hoped that turning their attention to Priscilla would take her away from the guys and who I was going to go with. Because even though I would have liked to go with all of them, the logistics were complicated.

Priscilla smile, her cheeks turning Rosie. “I asked my mom a while ago to send me something special.”

“Will she have enough time?” I asked. Priscilla’s mom made her beautiful outfits and send them along every now and then. She had made me an outfit once, too. The woman was pure magic when it came to sewing.

“Of course, I knew about the Ball a lot sooner than you did, remember? I asked her with more than enough time to spare. It should be arriving sometime early next week.”

“Explain it to me,” I said.

Priscilla shook her head. “Absolutely not! It’s a surprise.”

I grinned. Priscilla was excited about this, I could tell. When I
